Recipe #1 Ingredients:
8 ounces dark meat turkey without skin
8 ounces cooked salmon
4 whole eggs without the shells
4 ounces pork muscle meat (95% lean)
4 ounces chicken liver
2 ounces cooked millet
2 ounces baked sweet potato, flesh only
2 ounces oysters
3 teaspoons flaxseed
3 teaspoons ground turmeric
1 teaspoon wheat germ oil
9 grams ground egg shells
1/2 teaspoon dried kelp powder

Instructions:
• All meat in this recipe should be served raw. Practice safe food
handling techniques including washing of hands before and after
handling raw meat. After cutting raw meats, wash all surfaces
with hot, soapy water.
• We recommend pre-portioning and freezing any extra food you don't
plan to feed after 72 hours. Frozen food is best offered up to 3 months
after freezing for optimal nutrition.
• All nuts, seeds, grains, tablet based supplements, and produce used in
this recipe should be finely chopped for better digestibility,
bioavailability, and distribution. A food processor works great for this
step!
• Fine powder supplements and oils should be thoroughly mixed into
recipe.
• Capsule/perle ingredients may be opened for better distribution.
• Fish oils or other sources of omega 3 fatty acids should be added at
the time of feeding.

Recipe #2 Ingredients:

12 ounces dark meat chicken without skin

beans, red, green peppers)

1/2 teaspoon wheat germ oil
1/2 teaspoon dried kelp powder

Super-Foods to Improve Your Pet’s Diet

You can improve your pet’s health and longevity by adding some “superfoods” to their daily diet. The term superfood was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary in 2014 and is defined as “foods (such as salmon, broccoli, or blueberries) that are high in compounds (such as antioxidants, fiber, or fatty acids) that benefit human health.” This list includes some of my favorites.

Fresh, wild-caught fish (salmon or cod) – Rich in naturally anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart, joint, skin, and brain health. Fish is also high in vitamin D, a fat-soluble vitamin that degrades quickly in processed foods that are stored for long periods of time. Canned sardines can be used for these same benefits.

Fresh berries - Blueberries and cranberries contain polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that destroy inflammation-causing free radicals in the body. They may inhibit tumor growth, lower blood sugar, and reduce chronic inflammation. Anthocyanins in berries may improve cognitive (brain) abilities. Cranberries help prevent E. coli from adhering to the bladder wall, reducing urinary tract infections. Berries should be mashed or ground for easier digestion.

Mushrooms – Best eaten cooked; steam or sauté in coconut or olive oil. Mushrooms contain compounds that have been shown to have antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-tumor properties. They provide an excellent source of fiber for the good bacteria in the gut, improving the immune system. They help lower cholesterol and regulate blood sugar. They are especially useful for older pets with muscle weakness or heart problems, as supportive care for pets with Cushing’s disease, and for pets with viral illnesses that compromise their immune systems (e.g., FIV, FIP, FeLV). Shiitake is one of my favorite mushroom varieties. Dried mushrooms or mushroom powders can also be used.

Bone broth – Contains glucosamine and chondroitin, which promote joint health and help slow the progression of degenerative joint disease. Rich in amino acids, it can also be used during recovery after illness or surgery. Bone broth helps heal leaky gut and reduce inflammation in the digestive tract.

Dark leafy greens – A 2005 study showed that dogs who ate leafy greens had a 90 percent lower risk of cancer. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are rich in phytonutrients that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. They are high in calcium, iron, potassium, and vitamins A, C, and K. They are especially helpful for pets with liver disease or anemia. Leafy greens should be processed in some way to break down the plant cell walls – chopping, grinding, or cooking can accomplish this.

Eggs – Provide high-quality protein and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. One egg provides about 75 calories. Eggs can be eaten raw or cooked.

Ginger - Helps fight cancer and relieve arthritis. Ginger soothes the digestive system and reduces nausea. Ginger tea or gingerbread before a car ride can reduce motion sickness, or before bedtime can help relieve a growling stomach. Ginger can also be added to meals, preferably in the form of freshly grated ginger root. Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon for small and medium dogs, and up to ¾ teaspoon for large dogs.

Turmeric – Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric that has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Turmeric is used to improve arthritis symptoms and fight cancer. Absorption is enhanced when turmeric is mixed with black pepper and oil or bone broth to make a golden paste. I prefer coconut oil.

Pumpkin – Rich in beta-carotene, it boosts immunity and improves vision.
Pumpkin is rich in soluble and insoluble fiber, which helps regulate bowel function. Pumpkin can be eaten canned or fresh.

Raw Local Honey – Honey contains trace amounts of local pollen, which helps improve the body’s tolerance when exposed to large amounts of honey. The natural sugars in honey are edible for pets. Feed ¼ teaspoon per 20 pounds of body weight daily. Honey soothes the throat and is great for treating coughs. Raw honey can be used topically to treat cuts and wounds as it has antibacterial properties. Honey should not be fed to immature animals, only to adult animals, as it may contain small amounts of Clostridium botulinum spores.

Garlic - Used to treat food stagnation, cancer, diabetes and asthma. The most common use of garlic is as a natural parasite preventer, such as lung and ticks. Garlic enters the spleen, lung, stomach, heart, liver and large intestine meridians. Garlic tastes sweet, salty and spicy. It replenishes yang (adds warmth to the body) and promotes energy circulation, which is especially helpful for older pets who have trouble getting up in the morning. Garlic removes dampness, resolves phlegm, promotes digestion and intestinal health, helps eliminate toxins, and dispels wind, especially for wind-cold.

Garlic is good for both cats and dogs in moderation. I use freshly crushed cloves.
For cats: 1/4 clove (crushed) daily, 3-4 days per week.
For dogs: 1/2 clove (crushed) per 20 lbs of body weight daily, up to 3 cloves. Best to take at least 1 day per week.
*Please note the difference between garlic cloves and garlic bulbs

It is recommended to take stool and urine samples with you to all appointments, partcularly if the pet is ill. If not needed, they can be thrown away. Beter to be prepared.
Note whether you want any vaccinatons given at the visit. Be VERY SPECIFIC. It is
recommended that only ONE vaccine be given per visit, not multple vaccines. Vaccines should not be given if the pet is sick!
